About Dillard, GA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Dillard, Georgia is a very small city in northern Georgia, with a population of just under 350 people as of the 2010 census. It was settled by a former Revolutionary War officer, James Dillard, in 1823, and incorporated in 1906. While small, it can boast two historic houses turned restaurants, inns and conference centers. The Dillard House was established in 1917, and through the years has hosted famous guests including Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Walt Disney, Arnold Palmer and Jimmy Carter. Rabun Manor was originally built in 1837 in Whitehall Georgia, but was transported by railroad and mule train to Dillard in 1906.
Dillard offers numerous recreation opportunities in the surrounding area, including fishing and camping at Andy's Trout Farm and trail riding at Dillard House Stables. Dillard is surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the Appalachian Trail is just a few miles away. Visitors can raft the Chattooga River, look for wildlife at the Southern Nantahala Wilderness Area, or go hunting in the Warwoman Dell Recreation Area, all within a short drive of Dillard. Dillard's mountain elevation of nearly 2,200 feet keeps it cool in summer, when temperatures seldom climb into the 90s, although winter temperatures can dip down into the 20s.
